### The world's top-ranked golfer, Scottie Scheffler, was arrested and charged with felony assault, but was released from jail and went on to shoot a stellar 5-under par round at The PGA Championship.

Scheffler was arrested after he allegedly assaulted a man at a convenience store in Louisville, Kentucky. He was released from jail after posting a $10,000 bond.

Scheffler's arrest came just hours before he was scheduled to tee off in the first round of The PGA Championship.

Despite the arrest, Scheffler played well in the first round, shooting a 5-under par 67. He is currently tied for the lead after the first round.

It is unclear if Scheffler will face any further charges.
