Lionesses lose 2-1 in injury time

England suffered a disappointing defeat to the Netherlands in the UEFA Women's Nations League on Tuesday night, losing 2-1 in injury time. The Lionesses needed to win to keep their hopes of reaching the semi-finals alive, but they were undone by a late goal from Jill Roord.

England started the game brightly and took the lead through Alessia Russo in the 64th minute. However, the Netherlands equalised just six minutes later through Jackie Groenen. The Lionesses pushed for a winner but could not find a way through the Dutch defence. And in the 90th minute, Roord struck to secure the victory for the Netherlands.

The defeat leaves England bottom of Group A1 with just one point from their three games. They will now need to beat Belgium in their final game on Friday and hope that other results go their way if they are to have any chance of reaching the semi-finals.
