The Detroit Tigers will host the San Diego Padres at Comerica Park on Friday, September 2, in what will be the first of three games between the two teams.

The Tigers will start right-hander Jake Odorizzi (4-9, 4.18 ERA), while the Padres will counter with right-hander Joe Musgrove (9-7, 3.19 ERA).

Odorizzi has been solid for the Tigers in 2022, posting a 4.18 ERA in 23 starts.

He has struck out 122 batters in 130.1 innings of work while walking just 35.

Musgrove, meanwhile, has been one of the best pitchers in the National League this season.

He has a 3.19 ERA in 28 starts, with 177 strikeouts in 167.1 innings pitched.

The Padres are currently in first place in the NL West, while the Tigers are in last place in the AL Central.
